TIME TO VOTE

by Joan Bachman

It’s nearly time for us to cast our ballots for the November 3, 2020, election. I guess before we do that, we must think about what we expect for our country; hopefully leaders that work together and with us to support the rights of all.

I find it really hard to believe the recent reality of the US: public name-calling and disrespect, promotion of violence, caging children, ignoring science, looting and burning in cities, millions of US families unable to feed their children, federal secret police, wide-spread disparity in access to healthcare and to employment, exaggeration and untruths, trashing foreign alliances and agreements, overriding environmental protections. For years we have heard about such government actions in anti-Christian countries on the other side of the world, not as a daily diet of what is happening right here.

You know the candidates will not, and usually cannot, do what they promise. Accessing information of past performance provided by nationally accepted journalists and scientists gives us the best idea of what is real and somewhat predictive. If information found on hidden and secret sites is honest and worth knowing, it’s bound to turn up in the main stream. Facebook is not main stream!

Schedule your vote, know your voting rules and follow them - (vote once, not twice as suggested by the president). Remember that God gave us 10 commandments. Demonstrate respect for yourself, your fellow community-members, and your country by casting your vote thoughtfully and prayerfully. That’s what I plan to do.
